{Covid-19}: SC grants bail to repeat offender due to pandemic

The SC on April 22, 2020 {MERAJUL v. THE STATE OF BIHAR} held on parity the petitioner should also be granted bail especially in the given situation on the same terms and conditions as contained in the order dated 13.01.2020 passed by the High Court of Judicature at Patna.

The SC Bench, comprising of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul & Justice B. R. Gavai, observed that the petitioner is a repeat offender but then it is pointed out that all the accused are charged with same offence and one of the persons granted bail by the HC is also a repeat offender.

However, it was directed by the SC that the petitioner will report to the local police station at 11 a.m. on every Monday. The Special Leave Petition was disposed of by the SC.
