SC grants interim protection from arrest to Lawyer Prashant Bhushan

The SC on May 1, 2020 {PRASHANT BHUSHAN v. JAYDEV RAJNIKANT JOSHI & ANR.} held no coercive action be taken against the petitioner in First Information Report No. 11209052200180 lodged on 12th April 2020 under Sections 295A/505(1)(b), 34 and 120B of the IPC registered at the Police Station Bhaktinagar, Rajkot, Gujarat.

The SC Bench, comprising of Justice Ashok Bhushan & Justice Sanjiv Khanna issued notice to the complainant & State, and granted interim protection from arrest, in Writ Petition, preferred under Art 32 by the petitioner.  

The matter, now, would be listed, in ordinary course, before the SC, as per rules and procedure, for further hearing.
