SC grants interim bail in pending appeal due to Covid-19

The SC on April 27, 2020 {GURU DUTT PATHAK v. THE STATE OF UTTAR PRADESH} held that keeping in view the age of the appellant, the facts that he has undergone more than 6 years imprisonment and the fact that COVID-19 is spreading all over the country, the court grants interim bail to the petitioner for 6 weeks. 

The SC Bench, comprising of Justice Deepak Gupta & Justice Hemant Gupta, observed that it is made clear that after six weeks this matter be taken up again and further orders will be passed keeping in view the then situation in the country.

The registry was directed to list the matter after six weeks, with appeal. The appellant was released on interim bail, on the application moved for bail by the appellant, in pending criminal appeal before the SC against the conviction.
