Service lawyer: the contractual employee can be terminated, if there is a clause in the contract, without assigning any reason or notice; SC.

Supreme Court of India

Justice D Y Chandrachud

It was held by the SC in "Rajasthan State Roadways versus Paramjit", that the contractual employee can be terminated, if there is a clause to that effect in the contract, without assigning any reason or giving prior notice. It is Misnomer that the contractual employee cannot be terminated without notice or there is requirement of any reason for termination.

The judgement of the High Court was set aside and the appeal was allowed.
