The Supreme Court {Education Promotion Society for India versus Union of India} denied the extension of time for carrying out admission / counselling for PG courses. Held that extension cannot be granted just because some seats are lying vacant, without there being any other justification to do so.

It was held by the SC that otherwise, if the extension is granted then in that case the whole purpose of fixing a time schedule would be defeated in admission to medical colleges in PG courses. Accordingly, the writ petition was dismissed.
